Elvin Bishop in Concert
Sat. Jan. 24

Grammy-winner Elvin Bishop has been traveling the Blues road longer than most, and he’s got the stories to prove it – many of which can be found in the songs on his releases. The California native has made stops along the way, including his work as a founding member of the groundbreaking Paul Butterfield Blues Band in the early ‘60s, recordings with legends such as Clifton Chenier, John Lee Hooker, and The Allman Brothers, and success with his own 1976 smash hit “Fooled Around and Fell In Love.”  At every stage along the way, he’s instilled all of his music with passion, creativity, and a healthy helping of wisdom, wit and good humor. In 2005, Bishop released his first new CD in five years, Gettin’ My Groove Back. In 2008, he released The Blues Roles On, and was supported by B. B. King, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, George Thorogood, James Cotton, Kim Wilson, Tommy Castro, John Nemeth and Angela Strehli.  The album was nominated for a Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album.  In 2010, Bishop released Red Dog Speaks. Elvin still puts on a great show, so buy your tickets now. This one is sure to sell out as Elvin does whenever he visits The State!

Doors at 7 p.m.; show at 8 p.m.
